13 Days in Morocco Tour from Tangier

Explore the beauty of Morocco on our exciting 13-day, 12-night tour. Our journey begins in Tangier, where we visit Cape Spartel and the Cave of Hercules. We then cross the Rif Mountains and explore the blue city of Chefchaouen and the Roman ruins of Volubilis. We then continue to Fez and Meknes, where we explore historical and cultural attractions. We then visit Ifrane and the Cedar Forest, considered the Switzerland of Morocco. We enjoy camel rides and magical sunsets and sunrises in the Merzouga Desert. We explore the Merzouga Desert and the magnificent Todra and Dades Gorges. Next, we cross the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka Gorge, and explore the sights of Marrakesh and Essaouira. Finally, we visit Casablanca and Rabat, before concluding our journey in Tangier.

Day 1: Arrival in Tangier - Chefchaouen

On the first day of our authentic Moroccan tour, we will pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port of Tangier, known as the Bride of the North. We will begin our exploration of the city, visiting the Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel. There will be a free time for lunch. Next, we will drive to Chefchaouen, passing through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains, where we will stop to enjoy the breathtaking views. Finally, we will arrive in Chefchaouen, where we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 2: Sightseeing tour of Chefchaouen, the Blue City

After breakfast, we will explore Chefchaouen, the beautiful Blue City, also known as “Achaouen.” Located in the Rif Mountains in northwest Morocco, the city is characterized by its blue and white buildings and alleyways. We will take a tour of the old city, where we will admire its beautiful authentic blue doors. There will be free time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can walk to the Spanish Mosque, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Blue City. Overnight at the hotel

Day 3: Chefchaouen - Volubilis Roman Ruins - Meknes - Fes

After breakfast, enjoy a stroll through Chefchaouen’s beautiful blue alleys. Then we’ll visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll admire the beautiful mosaics, columns, and magnificent antique arches. Next, we’ll move on to Meknes, one of the imperial cities, where we’ll visit Bab Mansour, the Basin of the Souani Cistern, the Royal Stables and Granary, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Finally, we’ll move on to Fez, where we’ll spend the night in a riad.

Day 4: Guided tour of Fez

After breakfast, we’ll begin exploring Fez, one of Morocco’s most ancient cities and cultural and religious centers. We’ll visit the gate of the Royal Palace, then enter the medieval medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll explore the Blue Gate, or Bab Boujloud, which serves as the entrance to the medina. A guided tour will take you on a guided tour to explore the Bou Inania Medersa, the Nejjarine fountain and tanneries, and the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque and University, the oldest university in the world. Next, we’ll visit the Jewish quarter, the Mellah, and then head to an ancient fortress for panoramic views of the city. Finally, we’ll return to your riad.

Day 5: Fez - Ifrane - Midelt - Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, we’ll continue our journey through Morocco to Ifrane, known for its snow, low temperatures, and Alpine-style houses, earning it the nickname “Morocco’s Switzerland.” We’ll then visit the Cedar Forest, home to Barbary macaques, and you can feed them as you wander through the forest. Afterwards, we’ll move on to Midelt, where we’ll enjoy lunch. We’ll then continue our journey through the Tizi n’Telghmt Pass and along the Ziz Valley, stopping to enjoy the panoramic views. In the evening, we’ll reach the Great Merzouga Desert, where we’ll ride camels across the sandy desert, stopping at the top of a high sand dune to enjoy the sunset. Finally, we’ll arrive at the camp, where you can enjoy Berber drumming and dancing around a campfire under a clear, starry sky.

Day 6: Explore the Merzouga region - Khamlia - Merzouga Lake - Palm Grove

After breakfast, we’ll explore the Merzouga region, home to stunning sites such as sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, and quarrying areas, as well as picturesque oases. We’ll begin our journey with an off-road drive to visit an ancient mine for the production of hyacinths. We’ll then visit Bedouins in their hand-woven tent and learn about their lives while sipping Berber tea. Next, we’ll drive to the village of Khamlia, where you can enjoy Gnaoua music and dance performances. There’ll be free time for lunch at a restaurant. We’ll then walk through a palm grove and head to the wild Merzouga lake to watch the flamingos. Finally, we’ll return to Merzouga, where we’ll spend the night at a hotel.

Day 7: Merzouga Desert - Rissani - Erfoud - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley

After an early morning wake-up, we will enjoy a beautiful sunrise in the desert. After breakfast, we will leave the desert and drive to Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalt region. We will visit the Grand Souk of Rissani, a major trading center in the region. Next, we will continue to Erfoud, where we will visit a petrified marble workshop. We will then drive through the palm groves of Trouj and Tinejdad to reach the Todra Gorges, an ideal spot for rock climbers. There will be a free time for lunch at a restaurant. We will then continue our journey to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades, where we will wait at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations, then at a mountaintop overlooking the Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.

8 Day: Dades Valley - Rose Valley Skoura - Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we continue our journey to Kelaat M’Gouna to visit the Valley of Roses, which displays unique and impressive rose products. Then we drive through the palm groves of Skoura and visit the historic Kasbah of Amardhil. After that, we arrive in Ouarzazate, where we visit the studios where famous films were filmed. We also visit the magnificent Kasbah of Taourirt. Overnight in Ouarzazate.

Day 9: Ait Benhaddou - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

After breakfast, we set off to explore the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a unique fortified village listed as a World Heritage Site. We also visited the magnificent Kasbah of Telouit, before continuing our journey to Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka and the High Atlas Mountains. We enjoyed a lunchtime treat in unique settings and took some memorable photos. Finally, we arrived in Marrakech, where we spent the night in a luxury riad

Day 10: Guided tour of Marrakech

After breakfast, we’ll begin our exploration of the ancient city of Marrakech with a local guide. We’ll visit the magnificent Bahia Palace, the historic Saadian Tombs, and the unique Ben Youssef Mosque. We’ll also explore Morocco’s largest traditional market, where you can find antiques and souvenirs. Free time for lunch near the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Later, we’ll visit the magnificent Koutoubia Mosque and the beautiful Majorelle Gardens. In the evening, we’ll transfer to your accommodation.

Day 11: Marrakech - Essaouira

After breakfast, we head west toward the enchanting city of Essaouira. Along the way, we stop by the unique argan trees and tree-climbing goats, and enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views. We arrive in Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, one of Morocco’s most important coastal cities. We visit the fishing port teeming with marine life, the ancient walls, which hold a historical story, and the old medina, which exudes a traditional spirit. Overnight in Essaouira.

Day 12: Essaouira - Casablanca

On the twelfth day of our trip, we leave Essaouira and drive along the expansive coast, enjoying breathtaking panoramic views. We arrive in Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital, where we visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest mosque in Morocco, and the Casablanca Corniche, which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Free time for lunch at a local restaurant. We then head to Rabat, the capital of Morocco, where we will spend the night.

Day 13: Tour of Rabat, the capital - Tangier Airport

After breakfast, we begin our exploration of Rabat, the Moroccan capital, known for its rich history and unique architecture. We will visit the magnificent Hassan Tower, the historic Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the beautiful Kasbah of the Udayas. Free time is available for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we head north to the charming city of Asilah, then continue to Tangier Airport, concluding our 13-day trip from Tangier.
