- 4-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fez
Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Kesbah Aya Ben Arzet - El Ouard Valley - Boumalne Dades
Prepare for a magical tour that takes you from Marrakech to Fes over four days, starting with an early reception at the airport or your accommodation in Marrakech.
During the trip you will pass the picturesque High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka Pass with pleasant stops to enjoy the panoramic views and the beautiful surrounding nature
After this, we will continue to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified village is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Kasbah has been featured in many famous films such as Alexander the Great and The Mummy, as well as in TV series such as Game of Thrones. After that, we will visit the “Gateway to the Desert” in Ouarzazate, and we will visit the Atlas Studio where many famous films have been filmed. We will also visit the Kasbah of Taourirt in Ouarzazate. Then, we will head to the Valley of the Roses which hosts the annual Rose Festival in May, where the locals of the rose region showcase their traditional products and crafts.
Day 2: Boumalne Dades - Todgha Gorge - Erfoud - Merzouga Desert - Overnight in a luxury camp
After breakfast, you will enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Dades Valley. Then, we will continue the journey to the Todra Valley, which is characterized by its unique natural beauty. The Todra River runs parallel to the mountains, creating a large and stunning valley. You can enjoy free time to have lunch and wander through the valleys, with the opportunity to explore the splendor of the amazing landscape that surrounds you
In the afternoon, we will reach the Grand Merzouga Desert where you will have the opportunity to ride camels and explore the vast sandy desert. We will stop to enjoy the magnificent sunset over the high sand dunes. Afterwards, we will continue our journey to the luxury desert camp, where you can enjoy a special atmosphere with Berber drum music and dancing under a sky full of stars. We will have a delicious dinner and then stay at the camp for the night.
Day 3: Explore Merzouga area - Bedouins - Khamlia Merzouga Lake - Palm Grove
After waking up early in the morning, you can enjoy the breathtaking sunrise in the middle of the desert. This is followed by breakfast and your journey back on camel back to Merzouga, where your driver is waiting for you to continue your journey. You can spend the day exploring the Merzouga region with your guide, where there are many amazing sites such as sand dunes, wild lakes, and mines. This region also has charming oases and exciting fossil sites to discover. These are ideal places to practice many outdoor activities and enjoy the beauty of the enchanting nature.
Starting from Merzouga, we will drive off-road to visit an old kohl mine. We will then visit the Bedouins in their hand-woven tents to learn about their way of life and share a traditional Berber tea. The next stop on our journey is the village of Khamlia, where you will enjoy Gnawa music and traditional dance performances. The villagers are from Mali, Sudan and Niger. After the cultural experience, we will have time to have lunch at a local restaurant. We will visit a palm tree grove and continue the drive for a few kilometers to see the wild Lake Merzouga, also known as the Lake of the Flamingos. Finally, we will enjoy dinner for a unique and exciting experience to explore the beauty of the desert.
Day 4 Merzouga Dunes - Erfoud - Midelt - Ifrane - Fez
On the last day of your four-day desert trek from Marrakech to Fes, wake up early in the morning to enjoy the beautiful sunrise in the heart of the desert. After breakfast, head back by camel to Merzouga where your driver is waiting to continue your journey. We leave the desert behind and visit the town of Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalt. Rissani is still a major trading center in the region with a lively market on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. After exploring the Rissani market, we continue to Erfoud where we will visit a petrified marble workshop and learn about the process of transforming marble into beautiful pieces of art.
“Afterwards, we will continue our journey along the Ziz River, where we will enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. We will then have lunch in the traditional city of Midelt. Afterwards, we will visit the Cedar Forest, which is home to the Barbary Macaques. You will have the opportunity to feed them while walking through the forest. Later, we will visit the city of Ifrane, which is characterized by its natural beauty and low temperatures. Ifrane is considered the Switzerland of Morocco because of its Alpine-style houses. Finally, we will take you to your final destination in Fez, where our four-day exploration tour ends, and you will remember the wonderful places you have visited
